June 13th 2010- September 12th 2010 9:45 AM - 10:30 AM
The Intentional Faith Development Team has been praying, discerning
and developing goals for LUMC that will help everyone grow in his or her
relationship with Jesus Christ and with each other. Emerging from this is The
Summer Gathering, which is an opportunity for the entire church family to
come together as a community for fellowship, worship, and Bible Study. The
team hopes that this gathering will create an opportunity for us to include
FRANS (friends, relatives, and neighbors) in this new opportunity for learning
and worship.
The Summer Gathering will begin on Sunday, June 13, 2010 and will continue
to September 12, 2010.
The gathering will begin at 9:45 AM with a light
breakfast and plenty of good coffee, tea, and juice. At 10:00 we will share in a
brief time of worship and prayer and then begin the teaching, which will be
about 20 minutes in length. After the teaching time, we will spend about 15
minutes at our tables sharing with one another about how the lesson is speaking
to us individually. This time will be followed by a wrap-up and dismissal.
The Summer Gathering is scheduled for the Sunday School hour so Sunday
School classes for children will be in session. The nursery will also be available
for children birth through age 2. We’re planning to add an additional class for
toddlers that will meet during this hour as well.
We will study Luke for Everyone by Tom Wright during the gathering. This
study will offer an opportunity to study the Gospel of Luke together and experience
sharing and discussion as we learn.
The Summer Gathering is not a replacement for Sunday School
classes. It is a new option for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship.
