Welcome to Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church!

Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.
The people of the United Methodist Church

Welcome to the website of Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church!  We are glad you have taken the time to browse our site and to view what ministries and opportunities are represented on these pages.

Although we were organized as a Methodist Church in 1840, the church relocated to the present location on Carlton Drive in 1988.   The current facility supports vital ministries, and provides a beautiful and well-equipped sanctuary to gather for worship.

Canned Soda and Bottled Water Are Needed For the 127 Yard Sale: A large part of our fund raising comes
from the sale of drinks. We need a good supply of drinks for resale so please help us out and bring in some
water or soda. This year we would like to concentrate on donations of bottled water, and canned Pepsi and
Coke products. Thank you!

Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Ministry: In coordination with Connie Gilbert, Kim Brown and Julie Lister are, during the months of July, August, and September, organizing an effort for our church members to fill 30 shoeboxes for this Christmas ministry. These 30 shoeboxes are to be a supplement (a kick-start) to the individual efforts our members will make once we officially launch our annual shoebox ministry in October. (1) In July, Kim and Julie will make available a list of items needed to complete shoeboxes for 5 boys and 5 girls, ages 2 to 4, (2) in August, a list of items for 5 boys and 5 girls, ages 5 to 9, and (3) in September, a list of items for 5 boys and 5 girls, ages 10 to 14. This is devoting one month to fill 10 boxes for each of these three age groups. Therefore, by at the end of September there is a potential for 30 filled shoeboxes to add to the count put together by our individual efforts upon completion of this Christmas ministry campaign.

Heavenly Hands: David Dennis reported a team of four returned to Henderson Settlement and completed the final details of the shed the team built last month. Mac Whitnel reported the needs of a lady living in eastern Kentucky who lost her home to a fire. He asked if any of the HH members would be available to assist with the building of a carport for this most deserving lady. After some discussion, David Dennis asked Mac to learn and report to him the particular date when the others are going and report it to him to determine if anyone from LUMC is available to help. In other business, the team agreed to purchase a Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church banner and to donate up to $475 to the total needed to add striping to the Simpson Center gym floor. For Heavenly Hands information, contact David Dennis at home 839-5110 or on his cell at (502) 472-4085.

Frankfort District LACE Training & VBS Ministry Servants Needed: We have an opportunity to
serve a small breakfast and light lunch for a training group of approx. 30 people on the 17th. Please see Donna Callahan if you can help with this. And, of course, VBS is coming up quickly - please see Liz Eberhart or e-mail her at leberhart@lawrenceburgumc.org if you can help.

Eberhart Baby Shower: We are in the planning stages of hosting a baby shower for the Eberharts on July 25th immediately after church, There will be finger sandwiches as well as cake and punch. We hope everyone will join us for this fun time. Liz is registered with Babies-R-Us, please see Jane Fleck for more info on her wish list.

Beth Moore Event at Rupp Arena: Thousands of women will gather on August 13 and 14 at Rupp Arena to spend time hearing from author Beth Moore at LifeWay Women’s Living Proof Live event. Beth Moore is a speaker and author of best-selling books and Bible studies that are read by women of all ages, races, and denominations. Moore is a woman of purpose, preparation, prayer, and passion. It's apparent in everything she does, from teaching her weekday class at Houston's First Baptist Church to speaking to the thousands of women who attend her Living Proof Live conferences
each year. For more information, visit www.lifeway.com/livingproof. Scholarships are available, please contact
Sue Thurman at 839-7421 if you are interested in going.

July Sermon Series

Can God really make us new, as the psalmist says? And what does that
mean, exactly? What does the Bible teach about rest, and how can we
make rest a practical reality in our lives? When life goes haywire, how
can we know God cares? And what difference does that make? The Bible
is full of drama, and faith is a serious matter. So, in this season of beaches
and barbeques, fireworks and festivals, picnics and playgrounds, what’s
God’s position on fun?

July 4: Rest

July 11: Words of Assurance

July 18: Everyone, Everything Praise

July 25:
Renew Me!
